The songwriting muse started as a quiet, covert habit for this songwriter roughly 40 years ago. It stayed that way until God blessed our family with the opportunity to share original music as a family band for more than ten years as “Sarah Mae & the Birkeland Boys.” Our kids, talented musicians who brought color and life to every verse and song, are now grown and on their own — but the music carries on — as do the songs.

Sharing stories of faith, trial, hardship, perseverance and God’s glory in song form with our kids has been the privilege of this songwriter’s life.
